New modules to strengthen project management competencies

As part of the project, a new Project Management curriculum has been developed to strengthen the competencies required to design, implement, manage, and evaluate development and donor-funded projects.

Effective project management requires more than planning activities and meeting deadlines. It involves a combination of technical, managerial, financial, interpersonal, and digital competencies that enable project teams to design relevant interventions, mobilise resources, coordinate partners, manage risks, monitor progress, and achieve sustainable results.

To support this objective, the new Project Management Modules provide a structured and practice-oriented approach based on a competency framework developed through a review of established project management models, an analysis of requirements associated with European Union-funded projects, and the identification and consolidation of relevant competencies for this field.

The curriculum addresses the main stages and functions of the project life cycle, from identifying a project need and developing a proposal to implementation, monitoring, reporting, dissemination, and sustainability.

The modules are intended for project managers and coordinators, project staff, academics, trainers, and professionals involved in development and donor-funded projects. They can also be used for structured training, professional development, competency assessment, and institutional capacity building.

The curriculum has been designed to be adaptable to different professional roles, project types, and specific donor requirements. For Palestinian partner institutions, implementation can also be adapted to institutional priorities, learner needs, and the local operating context through face-to-face, online, or blended approaches.

The overall aim is to strengthen professionals’ ability to move effectively from project idea to implementation, from implementation to measurable results, and from project results to sustainable impact, integrating project management, leadership, collaboration, financial management, monitoring, communication, compliance, and digital skills.

This development provides a new resource to support professional learning and capacity development in project management within the project.
